What's It Going to Cost You?

What's it going to cost you?

That is the first thought that came to mind when I was having this self-debate within my mind. If you think about it, everything has a cost. The cost associated with whatever choices and actions can be good or bad; there's always a price to pay the piper. So, again, what's it going to cost you?

What is your life about?

There are some who are caught up in materialistic things: they have to have the latest shoes, or the latest technology; or, once they get a taste of the ritzy life...the mansions, Bentleys, and high-end purses or clothing items, there's no going back to "the basics." so, that can mean working overtime, stepping over someone, selling yourself short. That's fine and dandy if you choose to do as such. But, what's it going to cost you? Your family and your name? Your health and savings? Your life?

Life should be more than just "what can I get to make me happy." Don't get me wrong: I'm never against someone striving for bigger and better. But, where does striving for success end and enjoying what one has and relaxing begin? I was reading someone's tweets yesterday, and, what she said was true: money doesn't love you back. And, when will the need for more money or things ever be enough? There will always be something new; there will always be a want for more once you reach your goal.

I also know people who will give and give because they feel that's what they need to do to be seen as good or loved or liked. I'd never tell someone to "give of yourself until you have nothing left for yourself." That, too, will cost you...loss of self, tiredness, stress, all-around burnout. Who needs that?

It's a matter of finding a balance of setting and reaching goals and finding some way to serve others that helps fulfill you.

"Do you know where you're going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to? Do you know?" Diana Ross, Theme Song from Mahogany

Let living life cost you love, peace, joy, fulfillment. The only price you pay is purpose.

So, what's it going to cost you? When asked by Martin how much his services would be, the plumber said it best: "It may cost you a little, it may cost you a lot. But it'll cost you."

Think on it, and good reflections!
