Kujichagulia

December 27: Kujichagulia (self-determination): to define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves

(December 26: Umoja (unity): to strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race)

On this, the second day of Kwanzaa, it is fit that Kujichagulia (self-determination) would follow the call for Umoja (unity). When a people unites themselves in power, in positivity, and in love, what better way to continue in that walk than to define who we are, call ourselves what we hope to be in the future, create a community and life that we can be proud of, and speak out for ourselves and the underserved? When we take ourselves seriously, when we take pride in ourselves and our people, and when we can support ourselves by supporting small businesses in the community, when we do not have to seek out, or care about, the approval or definition or call of others on our lives, then we have lived out the creed of Kujichagulia.

One love.
Power to (our) people.
